Jeff Tolly earned a B.A. in philosophy from Davidson College and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. His writing explores the role of reliability in producing knowledge as well as the relationship between rationality and religious belief. Tolly’s research has been profoundly shaped by his interdisciplinary experience as a postdoctoral fellow in science-engaged philosophy of religion at Rutgers University. There, he collaborated with psychologists to bring the empirical findings of cognitive science to bear on philosophical questions regarding religious belief formation.
